James G. Barstow account books, 1861-1896 (bulk 1874-1888).

Two account books maintained by Barstow while master of several different vessels. Fragmentary accounts, but contain interesting deconcerning payment of officers and crews and Barstow's accounts with various employers. Vessels represented include ships Melrose (1865), Alleganean (1861), and Norris (1874-1887, complete accounts) and brig Frank Clark. Includes descriptions of payments to Chinese crew members at Port Townsend, letter from nephew, John G. Barstow declining offer to purchase ship Norris, and receipts (1892) from Puget Sound Co-Operative Colony.
